Fishing Report August 2022

Fishing has remained solid on Woman Lake for virtually all gamefish species this summer.  Walleyes are hanging out in their traditional summer haunts in 17-20 ft of water, while the bass remain slightly more shallow or in the weeds..  Mid-depth rock structures in the main lake basin hold the most smallmouth bass, as is typical for August, and the big bull bluegills are holding on these same rock piles but more shallow.  Small leeches or nightcrawler snippets are irresistable to these bluegills if you get your bait in front of them.  Leedches on live bait rigs are still best for walleyes, but crawlers on a spinner harness works well and allows you to cover more water if you have not pinpointed their locations.

My spine surgery recovery is slowly progressing and I am still on track for restarting my Guiding Services in mid-September.

Guide Service Notice Update:

     As you read in my July 2022 Fishing Report, I am taking a medical break from my fishing guide services to recover from my spine surgery in early July.  I am happy to report that my surgery was successful and I am now in the midst of 8-10 weeks of recovery.  I am hobbling around with the aid of a cane at the moment, but I hope to be back in my boat by mid-September when the fall walleye bite gets hot again.  I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your support and patience.  Personally, I can't wait to get back in my boat again.
