Fishing Report July 2025

July 25, 2025

Woman Lake has continued to experience a pattern of unstable weather and plenty more rain in the last couple weeks.  Many days have not been fishable and the walleye bite remains inconsistent and on some days non-existent.  Very nice big bluegills can be found on the deeper rock piles 10-16 feet deep fishing leeches on a slip bobber, and you will likely find some smallmouth bass while fishing there.  Trolling spinner rigs behind a bottom bouncer with nightcrawlers is one way to maybe scrounge up a few walleyes.  We are hoping for a change in the weather patterns for August.

We have had more heavy rain this week along with an unstable weather pattern which has made the walleye fishing a challenge.  Woman Lake water levels have continued to come up, which has been nice as far as I am concerned.  I am hoping for some consistant fishing weather in the next few forecasts.  I did get an unusual visitor to the bird feeder stations on my cabin deck this afternoon, so I will post a few photos on the "Catch Photos" section of this website.

July 4th, 2025   -   Happy Fourth of July to everyone !!

The weather is very hot and the boat traffic is heavy this holiday weekend, and both are rather infrequent conditions here on Woman Lake.  The recent rains have brought the lake up a few inches (we still need more rain) and the surface water temps have now broached 75 degrees, which makes the lake the water perfect temperature for swimming and general recreation.  It will only get a couple degrees warmer this summer before it starts cooling down again this fall.  Between the boat traffic, the on/off rain and wind, and the hot weather, walleye fishing has been slow.  Other fish species are much less finicky.  We are currently finding huge sunfish / bluegills on the tops of deeper rockpiles.  These are bluegills big enough to take the drag out on your reel, and big enough to swallow a whole jumbo leech without problem.  We have been fishing for them with slip bobbers in the 13-16 foot depths on main lake basin rock structures.
