Fishing Report February 2024
February 28, 2024
The previous winter (2022-2023) was maybe the toughest winter I have endured in Minnesota from the standpoint of both snow and cold. We had long stretches of bitter cold, but more importantly, we had too much snow on top of too little ice, so mobility on the lake was very difficult. This current winter (2023-2024) was the mildest I have seen in 40+ years in Minnesota, with virtually no snow and very little cold and not much ice. Poor ice conditions and almost no deep cold weather made for very limited ice fishing opportunities. We had decent ice for a week or so in early January 2024 before the warm weather mostly wiped it out. We caught a few fish at that time, but most of our successful ice fishing was done further north, where we had some respectible ice conditions.
