Fishing Report January 2026

January 17, 2026

Heavy snow, deep cold, and high winds on Woman Lake have made ice fishing and lake travel challenging for us so far.  But at least it does look like we will be have a "real" Minnesota winter this year, unlike the last two years.  Fishing has been sporadic out in front of my cabin, but we are getting fish.  Lots of perch naturally, but typically we see walleye and northern pike action from first ice until mid-late January.  My son-in-law caught some nice fish today including a 3 lb walleye and a couple 27 inch northerns.
